Longtime Black Sabbath/Ozzy Osbourne keys and guitar player Adam Wakeman (as Milton Keanes) is back with Jazz Sabbath – The 1968 Tapes. This RSD Black Friday exclusive MONO edition features eight Black Sabbath songs re-imagined as classic jazz tracks.
Even though the two albums Jazz Sabbath recorded in 1969 (if you choose to believe the liner notes) were only just released in this decade, the songs did find their way to millions in the last 50 years. Through a vicious cycle of personal tragedy and plagiarism the songs intended to change the jazz world ended up giving birth to a much darker sound. However, the songs on those two albums were not the first ones the band recorded.
These are.
In 1968 Jazz Sabbath were an instant hit on the UK jazz scene. It wasn’t long until they were offered a record deal. They spent weeks in the studio recording the tracks that got the heaviest reactions at their live shows until they captured their live energy on tape. Unfortunately, the label told them the songs were too experimental and the whole album ‘just a labyrinth of noise’. The label manager said there was no way this album could be a hit and told them to record some of their ‘easier’ tracks instead.
The two albums that followed are classics in their own right, but the band were not mistaken in thinking they had recorded their best work in 1968. Like the songs on the first two albums, these tracks also found their way to the public through that Birmingham band. Whether they copied them from live bootlegs or got their hands on the mix, it doesn’t matter anymore. Their popularity, even in the crude 'metal' way they were covered, proves just how monumental these songs were and how record labels often fail to recognize a visionary artist.
With the truth now finally out there and that Birmingham band exposed as the musical charlatans they are, Jazz Sabbath have finally mastered the 1968 tapes to present their best work to the public.

Carl Marshall’s popularity has grown rapidly the last several years, but Carl has actually given his all to the music world for over 30 years now. He grew up in the musical streets of New Orleans, Louisiana playing guitar in a band called Sam & the Soul Machine. During the 7+ years he was with them members consisted of Aaron Neville (lead vocals), Sam Henry (keyboards), Gary Brown (sax), Richard Amos (bass), Cyril Neville (congas), and Robert Bush (drums). Carl also served as a radio personality at the Meridian, Mississippi Clear Channel station Kiss 104.1
His first recording was released on Amherst Records in 1976. Under the name Soul Dog, Carl released the album Movin’ On, featuring the proto-rap song “Soul Dog”, which was delivered in a trucker’s MC style. Last pressed in 1976, Movin’ On is released on colored vinyl for RSD Black Friday 2024.

Cecil Taylor’s Live At The Cafe Montmartre has been lauded by critics as a landmark performance, "among the greatest live recordings in jazz” (Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings).
The recordings capture Taylor in peak form, supported by the great Sunny Murray on drums and Jimmy Lyons on alto sax, at the famed Cafe Montmartre in Copenhagen on November 23, 1962. The set is among very few recordings documenting Taylor’s playing between 1962 to 1966. Eramus Hall was a soul/funk group from Detroit, whose debut “Your Love Is My Desire" became one of the most sought-after records of the modern soul era, coveted by DJs and record collectors alike. The group only recorded the one album for Westbound Records, home of funk heavyweights Funkadelic and Ohio Players, before moving to Capitol for their second and final album in 1984.
After a definitive reissue of Eramus Hall's debut album, ORG Music and Westbound Records have teamed up again to release a full LP worth of rare and previously unreleased tracks, including some of their earliest demos. For RSD Black Friday 2024, Santana teams up with producers Lino Nicolosi, Nicolosi Team, and Narada Michael Walden (Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey), to present three distinct versions of his composition “Let The Guitar Play”: The Radio Version, The Soul Radio Version, and The 70's Version. The first two feature Run DMC's Darryl McDaniels, who delivers a poetic rap over an EDM-style drum beat, serving as a dynamic catalyst for Santana to intricately weave his signature guitar magic.
This limited edition three song 12” is pressed on tie-dye vinyl.
