SEA/SONS touches on themes of loss, redemption, longing, anguish and joy. And while Alexander’s lyrics speak to pain, trauma and life-changing loss, he instills his music with a joyful passion and irrepressible spirit, ultimately giving way to songs that radiate undeniable hope. The album art, an image of him and his brothers in his home country of Greece, is, “a reminder for us to be in the moment in the sea and to dwell in the healing place, not looking at the clock.”

A River Running to Your Heart represents the fullest realization of Johnson's creative vision to date. It's a sonically diverse effort that largely explores the importance of what it means to be home, both physically and spiritually. After two decades of making music, hard-earned emotional maturity has clearly seeped into Johnson's already inviting songs, resulting in a sound that's connected with audiences like no other previous version of the band.

Metallica have always been masters of corpulent, groove-heavy riffs and labyrinthine song structures, but now, with more than 40 years of experience, they play with more purpose than in their speed-demon days. “72 Seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves,” say James Hetfield. Making it through those first 72 may have been torture for the band, but now they’re just realizing they survived the apocalypse to share their wisdom.

Kristian Matsson returns as The Tallest Man on Earth with his sixth album full of vivid imagery, clever turns-of-phrase, and devastating, world-weary observations. Henry St. notably marks the first time he recorded an album in a band setting, featuring members of Sylvan Esso, Bon Iver, and The Dead Tongues. “Henry St. is the most playful, most me album yet because it covers so many of the different noises in my head,” says Matsson.
