Morgan Freeman is God (now there's inspired casting) and Jim Carrey is a flailing TV reporter who gets to borrow the big guy's powers for awhile. There's plenty of great material for Carrey to riff on here, but the script's syrupy moralizing is a serious downer. In an underwritten role, Jennifer Aniston is thrown in for sex appeal, but has little chemistry with Jimbo, while The Daily Show's Steve Carell nearly steals the picture in his small part as Carrey's ass-kissing nemesis.
