The Coen Brothers have been doing surrealist comedies (in between groundbreaking melodramas) for so long now that they’ve managed to integrate players from both their old (Frances McDormand) and new schools (George Clooney, Brad Pitt). The resulting Burn After Reading is a hilarious, if pointless, spoof of CIA thrillers and all the intrinsic red tape. John Malkovich and Tilda Swinton round out an exceptional cast.
