Performing nationally and internationally since 1948, he has led his own groups and performed with Lester Young, Johnny Griffin, Coleman Hawkins, Gene Ammons, Sonny Stitt, Eddie Harris, Sonny Rollins, Roscoe Mitchell, and Jack DeJohnette.
