Reviews:

The title was the NYPD's foreboding slogan back in the '80s, and just as appropriate for this little-seen James Gray drama. Travelling similar terrain as Oscar darling The Departed, Night explores the ethical dilemmas of two brothers, one a mafia-friendly nightclub owner (Joaquin Phoenix) who must choose sides after the other, an incorruptible police captain (Mark Wahlberg), is nearly murdered. Interestingly, Gray cast both stars in likewise conflicted roles in 2000's The Yards.
