Shut up-you have too been waiting for Norah Jones' country record. Her version of "Cold Cold Heart" remains a career highlight, after all. Here she tackles Hank again, as well as Willie and others, abetted by a group of musician pals. And they write a new one called "Lou Reed," 'cause why not?The Little Willies, a group comprised of Norah Jones, Richard Julian, Lee Alexander, Jim Campilongo and Dan Rieser, will release its self-titled debut March 7 via Milking Bull Records. The 13-track set features a blend of four originals and nine covers of songs popularized by Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson and Townes Van Zandt. The Little Willies originally formed to play a 2003 one-off show at New York's Living Room but returned to the venue as members' schedules permitted. A live album was discussed, but after Jones and Alexander completed a home studio, they opted to record the band as their first project there. The original material here includes "It's Not You It's Me," a Julian co-write with Ashley Moore; Julian and Campilongo's "Easy as the Rain"; Alexander's "Roll On"; and the Alexander/Julian/Jones album closer "Lou Reed." The disc is rounded out by the Leiber/Stoller composition "Love Me," Jimmy Driftwood's "Tennessee Stud," Fred Rose's "Roly Poly" and the Gram Parsons-popularized "Streets of Baltimore."
