"I was born under unusual circumstances." And so begins The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards: a man, like any of us, who is unable to stop time. Directed by David Fincher and starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, Benjamin Button is a grand tale of a not-so-ordinary man and the people and places he discovers along the way, the loves he finds, the joys of life and the sadness of death, and what lasts beyond time.

Reviews:

After directing horror-noir Se7en, David Fincher took the helm for The Game, Fight Club, Panic Room and Zodiac. While you’ve heard of all of them, and some are considered cult classics, none performed that most important function of a Hollywood blockbuster: to make bank. That changed in a big way with The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, a very loose adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1921 short story about a man who ages in reverse. Where Fitzgerald saw humor in the phenomenon, Forrest Gump screenwriter Eric Roth saw pathos, and expanded the story accordingly. Brad Pitt plays the titular New Orleans native, abandoned after leaving the womb a shriveled mess. After getting his sea legs figuratively at a nursing home and literally on a tugboat, Button embarks on incredible adventures. His relationship with childhood crush Daisy (Cate Blanchett) lasts the entirety of his life, as they grow to somberly accept their infatuation’s limitations.
