At the forefront of the Bay Area's experimental music scene, acclaimed Oakland band Glimpse Trio will be releasing their much anticipated sophomore LP, Garage. Blending their signature brand of frenzied, improv-driven musicality with a sound rooted in rock, Glimpse Trio's music is accessible and challenging all at once. Following the enthused reception of their first album, 1985, Glimpse Trio spent months honing their compositions in between a hectic tour schedule, fusing genres and talents to craft Garage's 16 sonically vibrant tracks. Multi-instrumentalist Martin Dosh (Andrew Bird) is featured as a special guest on the album and Engineer Myles Boisen (Kronos Quartet, Twin Peaks soundtrack) mixed and mastered Garage, giving a final Polish to the eclectic yet intensely focused LP. From the punk-inspired "Less Than Us" to the blues riffs of "Going to Hell" and layered jazz sounds of "Nature," each track offers something different while staying firmly grounded in garage rock. Together, lead singer and guitarist Mike Sopko and drummer Hamir Atwal are the driving forces behind Glimpse Trio's music. Drawing from classical training-with a heavy focus on improvisation-Sopko and Atwal craft songs that nod to their diverse influences and speak to their suburban musical roots. Joined by Chris Lopes on bass with guest appearances by Dosh, Glimpse Trio merged their flair for composing and musicianship with those of talented friends to create Garage. Multimedia artist Matt Ritchie (a.k.a. Matt136) created Garage's artwork, perfectly translating it's sounds into stunning visuals. 'a furious blend of rock, jazz, blues, punk and metal fused with infectious folksiness.' -Downbeat Magazine ' . . . some of the best and most complicated music to come out of a garage band this year.' - East Bay Express.
