The night started with Switch Full Lotus, a band whose reputation proceeded them as being heavy-hitting and energetic.
The rather fresh-faced musicians Chase (drums), Fon (bass), Joey (guitar), and Sage (guitar) have an exceptional, heavy sound that is only going to get better with age. Nonetheless, these ambitious songwriters bring a surprisingly mature take on what sometimes also reads as bratty punk rock. It is a duality that I enjoy—and it makes this band’s sound difficult to pin down but still undeniably punk. Overall, they should be very proud of their set, especially with the complexities in their songwriting that makes their sound so unique.
