Marco Benevento continues to reinvent himself with the instantly infectious dance rock gem “Dropkick.” To be released Fall 2015 on limited edition 45, the track hints at what’s to come from Benevento on his next studio album, The Story Of Fred Short, planned for Spring 2016 release. “Dropkick” has been popping up regularly as an encore in Benevento’s sets and finds the feel good piano player growing ever more confident in his vocals, which were a brand new addition to his sound on last year’s full length LP, Swift. The b-side here is Benevento’s take on The Crystals single “Little Boy,” updated here as “Little Girl,” which presents a modern re-imagination of Phil Spector’s soaring production on the original.
