For its sophomore album, WOLVES, the Washington State duo Idiot Pilot bolsters its electro-rock sound with catchier melodies and sterling production, courtesy of nu-metal/hardcore veteran Ross Robinson and Mark Hoppus (Blink 182/+44). Hoppus's bandmate, Travis Barker, drums on some of the record's tracks, but the high-profile help never outshines IP's engaging tunes, which often recall a heavy version of the Postal Service, most notably on the urgent, keyboard-driven "Retina and the Sky."
