Last we saw Melissa, she was accepting the Best Original Song Oscar for An Inconvenient Truth's closing title call-to-arms "I Need to Wake Up." Turns out the esteemed singer-songwriter was assembling The Awakening, her first album of new material in three years, during rehearsals. She claims the lyrics center on her experiences with chemotherapy and breast cancer, which should spawn some of her most personal material to date.
