More Info:

'Love Spirals Downwards are the unconscious mind of ethereal music, evoking forgotten memories with subjective, alien tongues. The sounds drift dreamily through one's thoughts like incense permeates the air -- perhaps the spicy fragrance will seduce you like a lover to it's heat, or else it will elude the threshold of perception and weave itself into the mind's strata of buried experiences... The result of this Easternish atmosphere, with delicate guitar and ebbing, oceanic female vocals is a taste of the watery, warm, and sweet elements of the earth.' Band founder, sole musician, and producer, Ryan Lum returned to his master tapes for this special reissue of Love Spirals Downwards' definitive debut album for Projekt. In 1992 'Idylls' introduced the band's uniquely sumptuous sound of interwoven acoustic and electric guitar textures and exotically layered female vocals which seemed to meld the best of the 80's 4AD label sound (Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance) with 60's psychedelic folk rock (Popul Vuh, Jefferson Airplane). Vocalist, Suzanne Perry, mystified and entranced fans with her 'Heavenly Voices' styled singing, which some have referred to as 'glossolalia.' Her mixture of Medieval poetry, nonsense sounds, and obscured modern English lyrics continue to capture listeners' imaginations to this day. This 2007 remastered reissue of 'Idylls' is much improved in sound quality from the original CD and cassette version, with more sonic depth and clarity. It also offers 3 additional tracks, including Love Spirals Downwards first ever recorded song, a live track, and a rare extended mix from the out-of-print 'Heavenly Voices Pt. 1' comp. Plus, it boasts a beautiful new version of the cover art, expanded for the digipac format. As with the music, the band returned to the original source photographs to offer a higher quality version of the art than early 90's technology could produce. Additional band portraits taken in 1992 by Susan Jennings enhance the original design and add to the overall beauty of Love Spirals Downwards ethereal/darkwave masterpiece.
