Through their music Razz strives to cross the boundaries of many genres by fusing classical, jazz, R&B, Funk and Latin styles through evolving forms, interesting harmonic progressions, and solid groove. Progressive, original material that delicately stretches the boundaries gives Razz it's unique musical signature. Fred Scott's Review of Clazz for Contempraryjazz.com I had no idea what to expect from Razz, a Los Angeles basedjazz-fusion band. What I got was an engaging, varying, and diversified sound. The producer, composer, arranger and keyboardist is Brian Sawyers, whose early influence of jazz-fusion from the Jeff Lorber Fusion recordings has inspired this group to pull, retrospectively, a cultured sound that was popular years ago. What is impressive is that they perform the music favorably. The guitar in the track 'In The Groove' sets a funky tune to this group's character. Clazz really takes me back to early days of Jeff Lorber and Stanley Clarke with a potpourri of rock and clairvoyant jazz. These guys are rockers as well as aesthetic artists experimenting with contemporary jazz. One of the coolest projects I have listened to in awhile.
