Check out the new OCHO CD at cdbaby.com/CD/zacbrown2 'Born on the wide western plains of Oklahoma and weened upon it's somber psychedelic skies, like a grape of wrath this Okie rolled West to see the sun set the ocean afire. And falling to his knees upon the storm tossed sands of Oregon proclaimed a perpetual communion, a divine submission to the will of those lunatic tides, an offeratory submersion to the depths of those Pacific seas, yea though they rage to shape the noble visage of looming and stoic cliffs. What Bells toll above? Who dares challenge the heaven's precipice preying above? Doth I hear Dover echo here? Is Lear a lampooning Lazarus? No, no dear reader, Zac Brown deigned descend from the Alpine with the manna of his Crystalline Epiphany. And as the clouds parted and the golden rays of sunshine dried the auburn curls of his hair, a dove, cooing the most tender of triumphs annointed his shoulder as an offeratory of peace. Thus has this Album come forth.' For Booking and Info please contact- Joshua Hartzog Midnight Rambler Management 133 S. After briefly studying cello and piano began playing guitar and writing songs at the age of 13. By High School Zac was fronting the original rock power-trio Vacuum on the weekends at such local venues as Rome, The Satellite Lounge, The Deli, and The Bricktown Amphitheater as well as arranging guitar parts for the schools choral productions. Vacuum went on to record an eponymous 8-song EP of original material at Studio 7. Moving to Portland Oregon in 1994 to attend Lewis and Clark College where in addition to receiving a BA in English Literature Zac played guitar in the Jazz Ensemble enjoyed private instruction with guitar virtuoso Dan Balmer, and studied conventional analog and Pro Tools production with renowned electronic musician Joe Waters. Becoming active in the Portland music scene by hosting all night Free Jazz parties in rented 8-bedroom victorian gave way to the founding of FigWine Productions (figwine.org) whose shows combined psychedelic rock and roll with Dadist children's theater and delivered it to venues and galleries across the Northwest. Zac helped to book, promote, develop, run door, and sound for these events. Zac ran effects, lights, pyro and performed the character Big Tex Dumple in the critically acclaimed 8 week production of The Birth of the Stick-Figured-Battery Baby, at Backdoor Theater. From 1998 until 2001 Zac was composing, playing lead guitar and singing for Spacebreath an improvisational 'swirling, psychedelic brit-pop'* quartet, recorded at Dub Narcotic Studios in Olympia Washington, and Jackpot Studios in Portland, and held residencies at Conan's Pub and The Snake and Weasel as well as playing such other local venues as, the Satyricon, The Jasmine Tree, The Ash Street Saloon, Berbati's Pan, The Blarney Stone, The Green Room, The Rainbow Room, The Black Bird, The Tugboat, The Fez Ballroom, and many more. SpaceBreath released Cloudland in 1999 and The Golden Seal in 2001 but suffered a blow that split the band when drummer Jeff Miller passed away in August of 2002. Zac moved south to Los Angeles and began developing material as a solo artist. Haunting, lyrical performances followed in Southern California at The Rainbow on the Sunset Strip, The Knitting Factory Hollywood, 14 Below in Santa Monica, and on tours throughout the Southwest at Houston's Engine Room and Austin's Red Eyed Fly and Bigsby's,and Milwaukee's The Jazz Estate. While touring in the Northwest Zac contributed slide guitar and percussion to Mo Phillips' release The Boat, (available at cdbaby.com)produced a demo for local heros Loris Lane, and in Milwaukee recorded an original nine song CD 'Zac Brown with Alpine' with some of the city's finest musicians, available online at cdbaby.com and Tower Records. Zac has been touring nationally in support of his improvised recording series, Hella-Wicked. Fuck'n A. During a stop in Portland last October he cut the heartwarming 8 song Ocho ep at Mississippi studios, available at cdbaby.com. Then borrowing an old analog recording unit recorded the 11 song 'Do what you're supposed to do' LP over New Years '05. The most daring collection of post-pre modern music ever released this side of Munich. * John Graham, Willamette Weekly A ship without an ocean An ocean without ships A tribe without a leader A circus without tricks An object of devotion A penny for your thoughts A ship without an ocean A fish that can't be caught.
