We've run out of fingers and toes to count all the classic alternative/indie/punk reunions these days, yet shockingly-shockingly!-many of the old-timers are hemming and hawing over, you know, actually recording new music. Hell, what would the point of that be-to sully the back catalog? No thanks. Anglo-angular punkers Gang of Four know better. They've already left an ineffaceable mark on the modern dancepunk blueprint, so Return the Gift is the perfect vanity project. Fresh off their first tour with all four original members in 20 years, they cranked out new versions of beloved cuts from Entertainment!, Solid Gold and Songs of the Free on the first disc, then compiled remixes from newish hotsteppers Hot Hot Heat, the Dandy Warhols, Ladytron, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal on the second. See, it feels good to recycle-and it's good for you!
