Mind Over Matter was a stand-out release in 2000 from Baba Zumbi and Amp Live – together known as Zion I. The group combines Zumbi's socially conscious rhymes with producer Amp Live’s futuristic beats, creating a sound that was both ahead of its time and deeply rooted in the traditions of hip-hop.
The album was heralded with much acclaim, earning a nomination for Album of the Year by The Source in 2000, and later ranked among the 30 Best Underground Hip-Hop Albums Since 2000 by HipHopDX.
In celebration of the album’s 25th anniversary and the life of Baba Zumbi - who unfortunately left us in 2021 – Coalmine cements the legacy of this important release on Record Store Day 2025 in a striking Cosmic Punch colored vinyl pressing.
