Although it may be strange to think of it now, using the word “over” to describe Gorguts’ future circa 1993 could be considered an understatement. As the band slowly went their separate ways and was dropped from their label, fans were left wondering what could salvage the Canadian death metal band. Enter Obscura. Acclaimed as one of the greatest contributions to the technical death metal community, the album’s dissonant melodies and experimental range was attributed to the reincarnation of the Gorguts line-up with Luc Lemay remaining as the sole founding member of the act. Steve Hurdle (guitar), Steve Cloutier (bass guitar) and Patrick Robert (drums) again joined Lemy to follow up the success of Obscura with the brutal, up-tempo From Wisdom To Hate.
