Cyrille was invited to bring a group to perform at Panafest '94, the Re-emergence of African Civilization, a festival in Ghana. While touring the continent, Cyrille and his band made this recording in a studio in Dakar, Senegal. He calls it an acknowledgment of the historical connection in body and spirit that they and American jazz musicians of African origin have made to their motherland.
