About This Release

(2-CD set for the price of one CD) Eddie Kirkland gained early fame as John Lee Hooker's guitar player in the 1950s, and he later moved to Georgia and toured with Otis Redding. He had a minor hit with "The Hawg" in the 1960s, and his style encompasses both soul and blues. While he has recorded many albums in the last decade, rarely has he been recorded well. This album has captured him in great form, with backing musicians Dave Snaker Ray (his last date), Fuzzy Samuels (CSN&Y, Taj Mahal) and Andre Wright. This album also includes a bonus CD, featuring the songs he recorded on Blue Suit's acclaimed Detroit blues collections, Hastings Street Grease.
