This album was a merging of two seperate singer songwriters seeking their sound together as husband and wife . Carolina Story is Ben and Emily Roberts and ' When the River Met The Sea' accomplihed just that with producer Don Chaffer of Waterdeep . He had this to say about the record : "This record documents the definition of a sound. Ben and Emily came into this album as two individuals, but they emerged with a sound that was unique not just to them as individuals, but really represented them as a group, something that's truly greater than the sum of it's parts. It's not everyday, as a producer, that you get to witness this kind of thing in process. Often people are either too set in their ways to change, or they're too insubstantial or insecure to emerge with any real identity in hand, but in the case of Carolina Story, I really think you get to hear the birth of a new poetic and musical voice on this recording.
